Core Principles of Wangism

These core principles are what every Wangite follower must believe in order to follow the path of Wang.

  • Principle of Empathy – First and foremost, Wangites must follow the Principle of Empathy. This is similar to principles or rules in other faiths, such as the “golden rule” in other religions and the long-used internet axiom DBAD (Don’t Be A Dick). The Principle of Empathy is primary and all other Principles follow it. When in doubt, one may simply ask themselves if they are following the Principle of Empathy. Here are some examples of questions to use:
    • Would what I am doing cause suffering to others?
    • Would I cause harm to others?
    • Am I being a dick?
  • Principle of Justice – In all things, Wangites value Justice over retribution and mercy over vengeance.
  • Principle of Equality – All sentient beings are equal in the eyes of Wang. While we may be born with different gifts, talents, abilities, and opportunities, we are all equal in our natural rights.
  • Principle of Fairness – An oft-touted saying is “life isn’t fair.” While Wangites understand this is indeed true, we believe that this is an unacceptable state of being. Life should be fair to all folk and it is the duty of Wangites to work towards a future of fairness for all sentient beings.
